The Problem
Cellar Drifting Above Setpoint
Ceiling-mount WhisperKOOL split system, about 9 years old. Cellar climbed several degrees above setpoint over a week. Unit running continuously but not keeping up. No error codes — classic signature of a low refrigerant charge.

Our Diagnosis
Refrigerant Leak in Evaporator Coil
Electronic leak detector pegged red on PEAK at the evaporator. Visual confirmation: oil residue at the drain pan seam where refrigerant had migrated out. Leak located inside the coil itself — not a flare, not a service connection. Coil replacement only correct fix.

What We Did
Full Sealed-System Repair
Covered every rack with plastic sheeting first. EPA-compliant refrigerant recovery. Replaced evaporator coil, TXV, filter drier, plus an upgraded drain pump while access was open. Nitrogen-purged brazing, pressure test, deep vacuum, factory-spec recharge by weight, superheat verified within manufacturer range.
